Welcome to the Beginners guide to Prejudice.
In this thread you will find information tailored to players just starting their gaming adventure within Prejudice. If you want more detail, or want the real nitty gritty about the details of this game, please check the Sticky An Updated Guide to Prejudice. Contents of this thread: Post 1 Starting Out - The Main Menu Your First Loadout Ingame Post 2 Starting Out Tips Your First Conquest Match Your First Swarm Match Post 3 Guide to the Stats Portal Guide to DCMs Guide to Vehicles & Deployables Post 4 Tweaking your Game Post 5 Loadout Help & Advice Starting a Server on Demand Server Closing Comments & Useful Links *ACHIEVEMENT GUIDE* ============STARTING OUT - THE MAIN MENU============ I will attempt to detail the Recommended way to get started in the game, starting with the Main Menu. ![]() Section 8: Prejudice's Main Menu The first thing you should do is Navigate to the Help & Options area and set your game up. This can be quite important. Navigate to Controls and set up your options the way you like them. Hover over an item to see a tooltip pop up which tells you what each option does. Of special note is Tank Controls which controls how the tank behaves while your driving it. Having it set to Free like I have results in a UT2004 style of driving - the chassis and turret are separate from each other allowing you to keep on driving while your looking elsewhere. Basic and Advanced try and keep the Chassis and turret more or less pointing in the same direction. (or at least I think they both do.) ![]() My Controls Screen. The next step is to click on Configure Bindings and set up your buttons. I can't help you here as this is all personal preference - and it will be even more different if your on a console\using a gamepad. ![]() My Bindings Screen. The last important area in the options to check is Audio, as this controls the ingame GFWL voice chat settings - for some stupid reason by default it is not on Push to Talk so your mic in most cases will transmit constantly, much to the annoyance of anyone else in the match. I highly suggest turning it off. Another note is that Text to Speech does not seem to function. ![]() My Audio Screen. GFWL Voice chat is turned off. These are the main things you need to set up, however I suggest going though everything in the options including Video and Multiplayer and setting things up the way you like it. ====================YOUR FIRST LOADOUT=================== On the Main Menu, select Dropship then Loadouts. ![]() Default "Assault" Loadout The Loadouts in Prejudice is where you get to fiddle with all the unlocks and customization options available to you so you can create your perfect loadouts. The screen is split into 5 areas: To the right is a graphic preview of your character, mostly used so you can see the different armor colors. The Top left has 6 numbers - each one of those holds one of your loadouts. So the Loadout your currently looking at is 1. Selecting 2 will change your loadout view to show whatever loadout 2 is. This means you can have up to 6 loadouts premade at any one time. Under that is the Weapon Area - you hold two weapons in Prejudice at any one time. Select the weapon and it will give you a menu with all your available weapons, select one and it will then show you the "mods" you have unlocked for it. select the mod you want and it will be applied to your loadout. Please note that you can not have two of the same weapon, so you can not have two Machineguns. Next is the Equipment area - You hold two different types of these at any one time. Most of the different equipments have a limited amount of uses before you have to find a depot to replenish them, however beacons and tools are both unlimited. These range from Grenades, Detpacks to Repair Tools and Jammer Beacons and more. The next area is Armor - these have no effect at all apart from changing your visual appearance. So even though there is an armor called "stealth armor" it will not actually increase your stealth capability. Feel free to pick the one which you like the best. The final area is the Upgrades section - this is where you choose your passive modules which give you bonuses (or reductions) in certain aspects of your character. At first you have 10 "slots" for you to use and a max "stack" of 4 per module, however as you level up you unlock Pauldrons which give you more slots and let you stack more modules. Lets use the default Assault loadout as my first example. Quote:
The Tungsten Coatings improve the damage of both the Pistol and the Assault Rifle, the Composites increase armor and the Shield Generators increase shields. The issue I see with this, is that it has no real way of dealing with shields short of grenade spam, the knife without Assassin modules (which you get later) is rather worthless since it can not one shot kill people, it has no Jammer beacon which means you can be locked on to, and the AR and pistol both suffer from Recoil quite a lot, not to mention the AR tends to run out of ammo just when you're about to get the kill... Below is what I personally would change the loadout to be: ![]() This is what I'd use instead of the "Assault" Loadout at level one. Quote:
Passives are built to let you stay alive longer than the default assault as armor means more than shields in most cases. Gyros will increase your weapons accuracy and lower its recoil allowing more bullets to actually hit your target while still increasing your bullet damage. The only downside is you will be slow, and vulnerable to napalm as always for low level players. This should be enough information to get you on your way to making loadouts tailored to your playstyle. It is highly recommended you have at least three loadouts - One for killing people, One for Repairing people and One for blowing tanks\outposts\deployables up. Other loadouts you may consider are sniping loadouts, speed loadouts, knife loadouts and base diving loadouts - the last one would require you to level up first to unlock the needed passives. If you want more beginner friendly advice on loadouts, please head down to Post 5 on this thread. ====================INGAME=================== So you found a server and have joined it. Your about to throw yourself head first into the fray, but there are a few things you should know before you launch from your dropship. (No, you don't get free cookies). ![]() Press F3 - it will let you change the display of AA and Sensor Array's radius on your map. Information is power, and knowing what everything is on the map to the right is important. In the screenshot above you can see the list of all of the different icons and what they mean, however we are more interested in the two options above those - Anti-Air and Sensor. Set the Anti-Air to ALL and Sensor to Friendly. This will allow you at all times to see the radius of all AA turrets regardless of which sides owns them, as well as been able to see what areas are been scanned by friendly sensor arrays. This may not seem useful, but it can come in handy. ![]() Press F2 - It will let you change sides, spectate or change squads. This is where you can switch sides or join the spectators. You can also kill yourself if you want - the great waffle god will come down and smite you for the loss of 5 points. (Not really. you just die and lose 5 points.) ![]() Press F4 - It will give you information about DCMs as well as letting you set your favorites. This area is misunderstood by a lot of players. While it does function as a list of all the DCMs and what they do, it also contains the Chance of Activation in the bottom right corner as well as letting you select DCMs that you want to show up more. Selecting a DCM (marking the box) will cause all FEATS you earn (kill 2 players with a siphon tool in a single life for example) will cause the chance of that DCM you marked to increase. So in the above screenshot all feats I earn will go towards activating the Elimination DCM. You can mark multiple DCMs at a time if you want, but for best results its recommended to have only one or two selected. Most players choose the DCM they like the most, however some choose the DCMs which are easy to complete in most cases or ones which results in a lot of players trying to complete it such as the Jammer Beacon. I have Elimination marked right now, as it tends to make human players hide and be less inclined to attack my CPs or do DCMs while its active. ![]() This is the main screen in which you can choose your current loadout on the fly, choose to spawn with your squad or free spawn where ever you want. To Freespawn, simply left click somewhere on the map. The color of the cursor indicates whether or not the AA turrets will attack you. Green means your safe from AA turrets in that location, Yellow means AA will shoot at you and red is an Out of Bounds area in which you can't spawn in at. Spawning into an AA area is certain death for people without a base diving loadout, so stay away from them if you have any choice. I'll repeat this since it isn't always observed by new players. STAY OUT OF THE RED CIRCLE, DO NOT CLICK IN THEM. You will be shot down by AA.

![]() On your merry way to the ground. When you decide to burn in, you're launched head first out of the dropship and plummet to the ground in style. To the right of your screen is a bar that is divided into three colors - White, Yellow and Red. This bar is a brake meter which tells you what will happen if you brake now. You can never brake in the White area. Braking in the Yellow area will slow you down considerably and give you plenty of Air control, letting you "float" yourself to a new location. It also lets you land softly letting you move and do other things once you land - landing on a player or something else will still do damage to them, or in the case of a player instantly kill them. This is how you want to land roughly 90% of the time, as you can react instantly to someone attacking you. Braking in the Red area will not slow you down, but it will give you a little air control so you can slightly adjust your landing zone. Its the fastest way of getting to the ground, however you will hit with such force that you will need a few seconds to recover meaning you can't do anything during that time. Hitting the ground at this speed also gives your landing zone an "Area of Effect" letting you damage anything that's close to your impact zone, and if you directly land on something you will cause massive damage to it. You can destroy most deployables using this "Hard Drop" barring AA turrets, and if you land on a bike which only has 75% or less shields remaining it will destroy it instantly even if it had full health. Do note you're not invulnerable while dropping in - If you burn in on a Sensor Field for example you could be locked on to and sniped out of the sky by a sniper or other weapons. You can also be killed by a player hitting you in mid air with their own body (You brake in yellow, but a player behind you had not braked and will knock you out of the sky) as well as been flattened in mid air by deployables, and the ever present AA turrets which are always willing to shoot you down if you stray into their radius. ![]() Your now merry on the ground. First I'll explain most of the UI features you can see on this screen shot. (I really need a better picture...) Top Left: Armor and Shield Status - depending on if you have taken any damage they will not be visible. If you're not at 100% health and shields they will show up. If you see Black and yellow Bars across your health and shield bars you are in the field of an Impedance beacon, which will greatly halt your passive regeneration. Top Right: Jetpack and Overdrive Capacity are both displayed here. If you see the black and red bars you have been hit by an EMP weapon and your energy is being drained. Top Middle: The Score and CP status. Your score is always on the left, the enemy to the right. Each CP has its own box here representing its current status - White means no one has hacked it, Red means its controlled by the enemy and Blue means its your CP. If a CP is yours but it has Red slowly filling it up, that means the enemy has hacked that CP. Middle: Crosshair, Range Indicator. Your crosshair in this game is Dynamic, the larger it is the more inaccurate you weapon will be. The numbers you can see are the distance to whatever it is your looking at. Bottom Left: Radar, Money. Radar is self explanatory. Money is used to purchase Deployables and Vehicles - You can Press B to bring up the Buy Menu. Bottom Right: Equipment, Clip Ammo, Ammo Remaining. In the above screenshot you can see that I have 3 EMP grenades, a full clip of shotgun rounds with 7 shots, and a total of 42 shots in all. Note that you can reload before you fully empty a mag and it will not cause you to lose the "extra" ammo that was remaining in the mag. Other UI bits: Blue Screen Edge Flash - you have been hit by an EMP weapon and your Lockon, jetpack and overdrive energy is been drained. Red Screen Flash - You have been hit by fire, or are standing in fire. Light Blue Crosshair Flash - You are doing shield damage to your target Red Crosshair Flash - You are doing Armor damage to your target Blue Solid Crosshair - You are looking at a friendly target Red Solid Crosshair - You are looking at an enemy target Yellow Eye - You have been "Tagged" by a Tagger Round sniper and are visible on the enemy's map, even if you leave the radius of a scanner\players vision. You may also be marked for the Elimination DCM, which means you are visible no matter where you go. Red Eye - You have been fully scanned and can be seen on the map\radar, your health and shield status is visible to the enemy and you can be locked on to. This is usually not a good thing at all. Flashing Red Eye - you are being scanned. The enemy can not yet lock on to you, see your health and shields status or see you on the map, but it won't be long before your fully scanned. Green Triangle - You are under the effect of a Friendly Jammer Beacon, and can not be scanned. (which means you can't be locked on to, seen on the map\radar or have your health and shield bars displayed to the enemy.) ======================STARTING OUT TIPS====================== The first thing you should do before joining any ranked matches is start a conquest or trivial swarm match, and get one kill with every weapon to unlock the achievement Spice of Life. This will unlock the jammer beacon for you, which is covered in my extensive Guide to Prejudice sticky. You should also realize that this game is considerably harder due to the inclusion of jetpacks. You will need to learn how to counter players who are in the air, as well as learning when to be in the air yourself. Lockon is there for a reason. But don't rely on it, as that jammer beacon you should have just unlocked is the main counter to that. Don't expect friendly bots to help you - half the time they will mindlessly run into the enemy and let themselves get farmed for easy money. If you want something done when bots are around, its best to do it yourself. Watch out for players using Incendiary\Napalm weapons. At your level your armor will not hold out for very long - as soon as you get Ablative Layering you should replace any and all defensive mods you use with them. Remember to use your money you earn on either vehicles or deployables. Deployables are often a massive help at DCMs, such as placing supply depots beside a friendly outpost to keep it repaired or an AA turrets to annoy people trying to help\intercept an intel carrier. Finally, do not be scared about been killed. You will die in this game, its usually only a matter of when and how often. Use the respawn to go somewhere else more important, such as a DCM or to help out a teammate trying to take an enemy CP. This does depend on the situation however. Other things you should do is watch to see how your opponents are playing and learn from it. Every weapon has a distinct icon which shows up when they kill someone with it. You will learn the icons in due time, but you should use this as a guide to see what your opponents are fighting with. A good example is if you see a kill with a sniper rifle - you can probably press M and look for a red triangle which is not moving, chances are that is the sniper right there. Go hunt the wookie! ======================YOUR FIRST MATCH - CONQUEST====================== NOTE: I use custom colorings. Your Colors will look different to mine. After selecting somewhere to burn in, your goal is to get to a CP as quickly as possible and hack it. It is my observation that it is often best to not take the closest and most direct landing point\path to a CP if at all possible as this will let you ambush other players who are simply after the CP. To hack a CP, walk up to it and press the button displayed on your screen. It should be your Use button. Regardless, after you have cleared away the opposition and hacked the CP, you should remain in the area somewhat to make sure no one else takes it. I assume you have unlocked the Jammer Beacon and are using the Assault Loadout I listed earlier - plant a Jammer Beacon somewhat close to the CP and stay within the beacons radius - kill anyone who tries to hack the CP. ![]() A CP freshly hacked - with a friendly bot shooting at a wall for no reason. After the CP has been fully hacked (all the deployables turn to your side), feel free to go off and try and hack the other CPs. I suggest pressing *M* on your keyboard and taking a look at the map to see whats happening around the place - this is often a good way of deciding your next move. Eventually a DCM will be announced and will activate - its info will show on the middle right of your screen. Most DCMs also have an icon on the map which shows you its location. ![]() After I fully hacked the CP the Outpost DCM started up randomly. You can see where it is, and how far away it is by looking at it, or by simply opening your map. Depending on the DCM and the circumstances, a general word of advice is to get to the DCM asap and do it. Sometimes it may not be worth you going to the DCM, other times completing the DCM could win you the match. If you can complete a DCM then always do so - failing any DCM gives the enemy points after all. ![]() The Outpost DCM. Each DCM has a method of completion, in this case the DCM is the outpost - it must survive for the entire time limit to the right of the screen for the DCM to be completed and award your side points. If it does not survive, the enemy gets the points instead. (Depending on which side activated the outpost, you may have to blow it up. You will know.) The suggested method of completing the Outpost DCM as the side who activated it is to surround it with supply depots, and if possible a few minigun turrets. Missile turrets can be used, but do note they tend to cause a lot of friendly fire on the depots and the outpost itself. ![]() The Outpost DCM, now with some of my supply depots to help keep it alive. To do this, make sure you have some money. each depot costs $20 req, and you have a limit of them as well - in the case above I have a limit of 3 at any one time. Press B on your keyboard to bring up the Buy menu, use [ and ] to scroll left and right, and when the supply depot is selected, Click the left mouse button after pointing beside the outpost and the depot will be sent down. You should also switch to a loadout which stacks repair fields and has a repair tool to keep the outpost alive - as well as the depots if able, as the enemy will be blowing the living daylights out of those. If you spot enemy turrets attacking your outpost, place a Jammer beacon close to the outpost to stop the enemy turrets from attacking it. If the outpost survives for the entire duration, it will give your side plenty of points and as a unique feature to the outpost it will act like another CP - giving you even more points the longer it stays alive. Up to two DCMs can be active at any one time, so things can get quite hectic on a populated server. Conquest has a Score Limit, usually between 1000 and 2000. Completing DCMs, getting kills and holding CPs increase your teams score - the first side to reach the limit wins. In the event that both teams reach the limit at the same instant, the team with the highest score wins. Conquest Matches tend to be rather long, so expect to be playing one of these matches for quite a while. ======================YOUR FIRST MATCH - SWARM====================== Swarm is Section 8: Prejudice's Co-op mode. You and up to three other players must hold a single CP for 15 mins against waves of enemy bots which will throw themselves at you and the CP. There is no other goal apart from preventing the bots from fully hacking this CP - if they capture it you instantly lose the match. Swarm is separated into three phases - each phase been marked by an Airstrike. Airstrikes will instantly kill all remaining enemy bots on the map and start the next phase. (or end the match in the case of the 3rd airstrike.) Each phase has different enemy bots coming at you - the starting phase has the weakest, the middle phase has the most varied and the final phase has the strongest. Each bot has a different weapons, armor and ways of doing things. Again, you can find detailed information in my Guide to Prejudice Sticky. However the one thing they all have in common is they stack armor, so the most important weapons to bring in swarm are anti-armor weapons and equipment - especially napalm\incendiary. For starting players, this means you should bring a slug Machinegun and frag grenades. Other weapon and equipment slot is up to you, however I suggest bringing either a mortar for more firepower or a repair tool to heal things. ![]() The lone Swarm CP - Don't let the bots fully hack it or you lose. The match will not start until one of you hacks the CP. Use this time to make sure all players are not AFK and are ready to fight. Also note that there is no point in blowing up the neutral structures here, as they will not give you any money. Once the CP has been hacked the enemy bots will start spawning. You should look up when not otherwise occupied to see where the enemy bots are spawning in at. You should also have one eye always on your radar - people underestimate how important the sensor array is, but in swarm if that thing is destroyed your essentially blind until its repaired. At first, you will only face Infantry-Class bots... practically anything can take these down. Use them to farm up as much money as you can, and decide on how you want to play this match. You have two options: ![]() Supply Depot + Grenades + Swarm = lots and lots of kills. The most common way to get kills in swarm for low ranks is to stand beside\ontop of a depot and throw out frag grenades constantly. If your team is too stupid to be in your way, their loss. As the recharge rate is greater than the impressive rate you can throw out grenades, you can not run out of grenades to throw. The limitations of this are the simple fact its boring, and you are rather stationary. Watch out for Lieutenants throwing mortars at you. -NOTE- Please note that this is NOT intended behavior for grenades+supply depot. It is not bannable nor is it an exploit, but if TG ever patches this game again this is supposedly on a "Not intended" list. The other and more common option is: ![]() Supply Depot + Two Turrets + CP in Sight = Plenty kills. Essentially you place your deployables near the CP so they can support\cover it while you go do other stuff. You can combine the two like I did for these screen shots, but its not recommended to throw grenades that close to the CP - as usually the enemy bots won't get that close in the first place. The Deplyable rules for swarm are different than the other game modes: Quote:
Vehicles can be purchased, but should only really be used in Medium difficulty or lower. Bikes are useless at Hard difficulty, and both are useless at insane. If you want to use a vehicle in swarm, be ready to take cover often and learn how to dodge mortars. The final note is about DCMs - only two can activate in swarm, which are the VIP and Wreckage. In most cases the VIP can get himself to the CP without any assistance depending on difficulty level, and wreckage functions the same as always. what is important though is that completing DCMs does not decrease the timer or anything like it - all they do here is give you extra money. So if you don't need the money, feel free to ignore Wreckage. The VIP should be helped if possible though, as he does help defend the CP. Swarm is actually quite easy with a competent team, and its fully possible to solo even insane swarm with the proper loadouts and tactics. Another tip for people starting out is to stay near the CP. Going out into the field should not be done by anyone who doesn't know what they are doing. Also, this is personal preference but I find shields to be better than armor for defensive mods for Swarm, but as stated elsewhere, what works for me may not work for you. ![]() A fun way to kill time is to play with trivial bots and go knifing. Bots in swarm scale with difficulty like all other game modes, however the difference is far more noticeable here - as the difficulty also affects vehicles as well. This means a player Heavy armor will be different from the Bot ones depending on the difficulty: Quote:
Playing insane Swarm takes a different mindset than the lower difficulties, and really should not be attempted by low ranked players. After 15 mins is up and all three bombing runs are done, you win the match. If the enemy bots fully hack the CP before then, you lose the match. If the 3rd bombing run commences and the bots have hacked the CP but its not fully hacked, if the players don't defuse it in time they can still lose the match.

======================USING THE STATS PORTAL====================== Detailed Information about the Stats Portal can be found here. Note the following section was copied from that post. The Stats Portal is a robust web site created to compliment the gameplay found in Section 8: Prejudice. As players earn stats while playing those stats are reflected on the Stats Portal. After a short delay every level, badge, feat, and kill will appear on web site. These statistics can be sorted and browsed in a variety of ways. Both personal stats and clan stats are updated rapidly on the Stats Portal. In addition to these statistics the Stats Portal is also used to create and manage clans. ![]() Your own personal stats page. Or in this case, mine. How do I sign up for the Stats Portal then? To sign up visit this link: http://www.warisprejudice.com/stats The first thing you need to do is create a TimeGate account. Find the link at the top right that says “Log In or Create Account” and click it. This account is required to manage your Section 8: Prejudice stats and creating it also allows you to post on the TimeGate forums. Once your TimeGate account is created return to the Stats Portal. Now you will link your game to your TimeGate account. To do this launch Section 8: Prejudice and from the Main Menu proceed to Dropship, then Stats Portal. You will be presented with a unique activation code. Next, return to the Stats Portal and locate the “Link Account” button in the top right and click it. This will link your Xbox LIVE Gamertag, GFWL Gamertag, or PlayStation Network Online ID to your TimeGate account. And that’s all! You’re now ready to use the Section 8: Prejudice Stats Portal. ![]() The page of your clan, if you choose to join one. ======================QUICK GUIDE TO DCMs====================== More detailed information about DCMs can be found in An Updated Guide to Prejudice. INFILTRATOR An Infiltrator is deployed to fully hack a CP. Activating Side: A Cubicle will spawn at one of your CPs. The first friendly player to get to it and activate it gets the infiltrator suit which is permanently jammed, and armed with an assault rifle, frag rocket launcher, grenades and mortars and has a lot of armor. On the right side of your screen you will see the CP your side must fully hack - you must go to that CP and hack it. Once its fully hacked, touch the CP and you will complete the mission. Defending Side: Kill the infiltrator by either shooting him, defending the CP so the timer runs out or by "hacking" the suits cubicle before the infiltrator is deployed. Convoy A convoy (waffle truck) must get from its spawn location to a certain point on the map. It is slow, but rather tough - its also armed with missiles and a passenger can use twin mortars. Activating Side: Escort the convoy along its route, remembering to repair it as much as possible. Always make sure a player is driving the convoy, as bots are stupid. Place an AA turret along the convoys route to prevent dive bombers who don't have a base diving loadout. Defending Side: Crash weaponry, Missile turrets, tanks and just general heavy weaponry. Your goal is to blow it up before it reaches its destination. Intelligence A Satchel of documents must be recovered. Activating Side: Pick up the intel by using it, and run like mad to the drop off point. Expect people to chase you the entire way. Remember to place an AA turret to give you cover. The enemy side can return the intel back to its spawning point. your best bet to complete this is to chain it with other players. Defending Side: Proxy Dets work well. All you have to do is kill the enemy players who try and run off with the intel. If you get time, you can return the intel back to its spawn. Again, AA coverage helps a lot. Airstrike A marker is waiting for your side to plant it at an enemy base, so bombers can come blow it up. Activating Side: Use the Marker to pick it up, and run it to any enemy base. Run over the marker's drop off location at your chosen enemy base and defend it for 20 seconds. If you succeed, a bomber will come and kill all enemy players, vehicles, deployables and base structures around the entire CP. Defending Side: Prevent the enemy from getting to a marker drop off point with the marker in the first place by killing them. You can return an unplanted marker like an intel if you get time. Once a marker is planted, you can defuse it fully if you get to it in time. Outpost An outpost has been dropped on the battlefield and will act like a mini-CP. Activating Side: Bring repair tools, and place supply depots beside the outpost to keep it alive. Expect it to take a lot of fire and attract the attention of any enemy tanks or surviving convoys. Remember to have a jammer beacon near it to prevent enemy turrets from attacking it. If it survives for the entire duration it completes the DCM and the outpost will continue to give bonus points as long as it survives, just like a CP does. Defending Side: Crash weaponry, Missile turrets, tanks and just general heavy weaponry. Your goal is to blow it up before the time limit expires. Bringing along Detpacks and mortars also helps a lot so you can deal with the inevitable supply depots repairing it, and having a tank or convoy nearby can help as well. VIP Beardie wants an escort to a friendly CP. Activating Side: Escort him to a CP. You complete the DCM once he touches the CP. Bring Repair tools, as he dies very fast under concentrated fire. Defending Side: Lots of napalm and incendiary, or a bike that takes him for a joy ride out of bounds. Just got to kill him before he touches the CP. Elimination Kill the entire enemy team. Activating Side: Kill the entire enemy team. Unless they are exploiting they will always be visible while they are a target for Elimination. Kill all marked targets before the time limit expires and you win the DCM. Defending Side: Keep at least one marked person alive until the time limit expires to win the DCM. Jammer A huge Jamming Array has landed on the battlefield and you must defend it from enemy hacks Activating Side: Essentially a King of the Hill DCM, All you have to do is prevent the enemy from hacking the Jamming Array like a CP and holding it until the time limit expires. If the enemy hacks the jammer, simply hack it back to your side. If you win the DCM, the jamming array will stick around for a while. Defending Side: Almost the same as the Activating side, you must hack the Jammer and hold it for your side until the time limit expires. do note there are two timers for each side, Meaning if the enemy has held it for ages and you only just hacked it, you will have to keep it safe from counter-hacks for a the entire duration of your separate timer. (See the thread linked to in the 1st post.) If you win the DCM the jammer will blow up instantly. Recovery\Wreckage A prototype starship has been destroyed in orbit and you must recover its pieces. (for a prototype, it sure gets blown up a lot.) Activating Side: Stand over a piece of wreckage and use it - you will take a few seconds to pick it up. Pick up all the pieces within the time limit to win the DCM. Each Piece of wreckage also gives you some money, as well as adding extra time for you to pick up the other pieces. Defending Side: Simply prevent the enemy from picking up the wreckage. As long as they don't pick up all of them and the time limit expires, you will win the DCM. ======================GUIDE TO VEHICLES & DEPLOYABLES====================== SUPPORT DEPLOYABLES: ($20) ![]() ![]() Sensor Array: Sensor Arrays provide Sensor Coverage within a wide area. Sensors detect enemy players, deployables and vehicles within its radius as long as they are not under the effects of a Jamming field, which is a Jamming Beacon or the Jamming Array. Detecting a player reveals them on the map, allows you to lock on to them and shows their armor and shield status. You get points for scanning players using this deployable. Supply Depot: Supply Depots allow you to switch loadouts when you use them. They can also restore health and ammo to one player at a time if they are near it, and they can repair DCMS, vehicles and other deployables that are close enough to them. They also make for the best deployable "bombs", as they have the most health they do the most damage if they land on a tank for example. you get points for repairing\giving ammo to other things using this deployable. TURRETS ($40) ![]() ![]() ![]() Minigun Turret: Your basic anti-infantry turret, it is accurate and rapid firing and actually does quite a bit of damage to them. It is very weak against vehicles though and like the missile turret won't acquire targets more than 100m away or while under the effects of a Jamming Field. The bullets this thing fires are capable of slightly pushing bikes around - 4 minigun turrets firing at a bike is enough to prevent the bike from moving forward. Missile Turret: Your basic Anti-Vehicle turret, while not as accurate as the minigun turret it does a lot more damage with its rockets to both players and vehicles. It does not lead its targets, meaning it is rather easy to dodge if you keep moving. Like the minigun turret won't acquire targets more than 100m away or while under the effects of a Jamming Field. AA Turret: A deployable version of the larger AA guns found in all bases, provides AA coverage at the area it is located in. It does not do as much damage as the base version, nor is its radius as large, and it has its own deployable limit, usually 3 or 4 per side. It can not attack anything that's not burning in. HEAVY ARMOR (Mech) - $100 ![]() This slow thing is focused on melee attacks, as it can punch and claw its way though almost anything it can get its hands on. It has a lot of armor and is rather hard to take down in most cases without the use of dedicated anti-vehicle weapons, and it capable of leaping forward a short distance. Press your "use equipment" button (F for me) to use your melee attack. Use your melee attack at a certain point and you may activate a fatality which gives you a considerable point bonus, but leaves you vulnerable to attack while the fatality is been performed. It is also armed with twin miniguns which are rather deadly this time around and are very accurate - however to use these properly you need to aim at the top of your crosshair, as this was done to allow players to shoot over hills due to the camera angle. Its simple to control, and very user friendly - Makes a great way to defend an indoor CP. -To take out a Heavy Armor, keep at a distance and preferably above it while pelting it with Crash rounds and other explosives, Detpacks also work. If you get the heavy to under 30% health and you have a knife you can attempt to perform a Knife Fatality on it for big points. HOVER BIKE - $100 ![]() The bike is my favorite thing in Prejudice, but as such it has been hit hard. While the fastest vehicle and possessing both Jump and Boost functions (Jump and Sprint button respectively) as well as an accurate minigun and rockets (Use Equipment button fires the rockets), it is very hard to handle in high-ping conditions and has very weak defenses. You can use it as a battering ram and run people over with it, however generally they need to have less than half shields left for it to be a kill - unless you boost into a target which is in most cases a 1 "shot" kill. While using a bike you should keep moving at all times, and don't fight a vertical engagement as the bike is a large and easy target to hit for explosive weapons that are above you. There is a Sticky thread about the Bike here which you can read. -Bikes are vulnerable to practically anything. What weapons are good against it depends on the skill of the bike user, but in general a Crash Machinegun is your best bet if you have it, otherwise just use a normal Anti-vehicle loadout with whatever crash weapons you have. If you have EMP, you can hit it with one of them to prevent the bike from boosting\jumping away. Shotguns at point-blank range can also work wonders, apart from the concussion variant. TANK - $180 ![]() Very skill based vehicle - it can either be OP as hell or as worthless as a tin can. If you can not steer it, change your Tank Controls in the options. The tank has 4 weapons and holds 4 players, with each player controlling a different weapon: Driver gets the main cannon and can steer the tank- 2nd person gets a Minigun turret 3rd Person gets a Missile array (Like the convoy) 4rth person gets a mortar array (like the convoy) You can change seats at any time by pressing the corresponding number shown in the bottom right. So if you want to switch to the mortar seat, press 4. Tanks do have the most armor and shields out of all vehicles, but its still vulnerable to direct attack and missile turrets - though its largest nemesis is players landing on top of it. When driving a tank, always be prepared to find a safe spot to repair it, preferably under an AA field. Like a bike the tank can run over people who get too close, and like the convoy it has a limited jetpack allowing it to hop over an obstacle or to flatten someone. -Depending on many circumstances you won't be able to solo a tank. Your best bet is to load up on crash weapons again and try and land on the tank, then proceeding to fire everything you got at it. I suggest calling for help when attacking a tank, as the tank driver might simply get out and repair the tank before you manage to get back again.

======================TWEAKING YOUR GAME====================== Please note that the following is not supported by Timegate Studios, and should only be attempted by people who are willing to take the risks. If you need help with any of this do not post in the technical support area, post here instead and I will try and help you. You have been warned. What is there to tweak? You can change the colors of certain things ingame like I have done, as well as manually add in new key binds, allow you to host up to 64 players on your own computer both offline and online, grant you admin permission for your listen server as well as letting you tweak advanced graphic settings that you can't find ingame. Anyone with experience editing .Ini files should know what to do. But for those who don't you can follow this guide. I must remind you to back up all files that you plan to edit, and be very careful about what you change. A single mistake could force you to re-install prejudice if your not careful. ====CHANGING YOUR SERVERS MAX PLAYER LIMIT & ADMIN RIGHTS==== Customary warning - Back up your entire C:\My Games\Section 8 Prejudice - PC folder before changing anything. Once you backed up the folder, navigate to the following. Note depending on your OS it may be in a different place. C:\Users\username\Documents\My Games\Section 8 Prejudice - PC\S9Game\Config And for this part, open up the S9Game.ini file with a program that does not save formatting changes, such as notepad or Editpad Lite (I use the latter.) This file, like all of them is huge. Just change exactly what I say here and you will be fine. To allow you to host both offline and online (listen) servers with up to 64 bots\players, Change: MaxPlayers=32 MaxPlayersAllowedDedicated=32 MaxPlayersAllowedListen=16 MaxPlayersAllowedStandalone=32 To: MaxPlayers=64 MaxPlayersAllowedDedicated=64 MaxPlayersAllowedListen=64 MaxPlayersAllowedStandalone=64 To allow you to log in as an admin when you start up an online listen server, Change: IPPolicies=ACCEPT;* AdminPassword= To: IPPolicies=ACCEPT;* AdminPassword=Paranoid Do note that you must get this password exactly correct to log in, that includes capitalization. Feel free to make whatever password you want, so don't use this one if you can help it. (You can if you really want to, as only you can log in as an admin on a listen server.) Save the file, and load up prejudice. Go conquest, Custom match, Create Game. Notice the new max player limit? ![]() Set the game up however you want and go into it. when it loads, press ~ on your keyboard to bring up the console and type in: AdminLogin Paranoid Or whatever admin password you set. If you did everything properly you can now remote admin your own server, allowing you to change settings, adjust the score limit way beyond normal amounts, give everyone money, so on. Admining a server is beyond the scope of this guide, so you will have to go through the Section 8: Prejudice Readme, which I've reposted in the Tech Support area. ====CHANGING THE COLORS IN THE GAME==== Customary warning - Back up your entire C:\My Games\Section 8 Prejudice - PC folder before changing anything. Once you backed up the folder, navigate to the following. Note depending on your OS it may be in a different place. C:\Users\username\Documents\My Games\Section 8 Prejudice - PC\S9Game\Config And for this part, open up the S9Game.ini file with a program that does not save formatting changes, such as notepad or Editpad Lite (I use the latter.) Use your programs Search\find Function to look for the words [Engine.TGBColorMap] since the stuff you want to change is found directly under it. Crayons work using RGBA - R = Red, G = Green, B = Blue and A = Alpha (transparency). So, using this system to create "True Red" you would use R=255,G=0,B=0,A=255 You can open up a painting program like Paint Shop Pro or go visit wikipedia to learn more about RGB if you want. Lets say you don't like the blue color your friendly players are and want them like my screenshots are - green. to do that... Change: Crayons=(ColorName="FriendlyTeam",ColorValue=(R=*, G=*,B=*,A=*)) To: Crayons=(ColorName="FriendlyTeam",ColorValue=(R=0, G=255,B=255,A=255)) WARNING: DO NOT ALLOW ANY SPACES IN THIS AREA - THIS IS A FORUM FORMATTING BUG. ANY SPACES HERE WILL CAUSE YOUR GAME TO CRASH. This will make all Friendly targets, players, deployables and UI elements turn Light Green. The rest of this is rather self explanatory, just remember that only you see these changes - no one else. Also some color changes don't apply ingame, such as the Repair Tool color. Once your done here, save the file and go see if your changes worked. It may take a while to get a color scheme your comfortable with, but it is well worth it in my eyes. Huhuhu. ![]() Sample of some Color Changes in action. ====ADVANCED GRAPHIC TWEAKING==== Customary warning - Back up your entire C:\My Games\Section 8 Prejudice - PC folder before changing anything. Once you backed up the folder, navigate to the following. Note depending on your OS it may be in a different place. C:\Users\username\Documents\My Games\Section 8 Prejudice - PC\S9Game\Config And for this part, open up the S9Engine.ini file with a program that does not save formatting changes, such as notepad or Editpad Lite (I use the latter.) Use your programs Search\find Function to look for the words [SystemSettings] since the stuff you want to change is found directly under it. Almost all of these settings affect the graphics within Section 8: Prejudice, as well as a few other things. Before you change anything you should be aware of what you want to do. If you want to increase performance, go ingame and set everything to as low as possible - THEN change things in here if need be. Same with increasing the detail - go ingame and max everything out - THEN come change things in here NOTE: Do not Enable D3D10 (directx 10) since it is NOT supported in Prejudice, it WILL crash. NOTE: Do not touch TEXTUREGROUP_ area at all - it has a VERY high chance of crashing. NOTE: If you are using SLI\Crossfire I suggest changing ImpostersDisabledGame=False to ImpostersDisabledGame=True - It should help with some flickering object, but it will come at a performance cost. Overall though I suggest turning SLI\Crossfire off for Prejudice... sad I know, but you won't have any screen tearing\screen glitches\flickering objects. This is a complex area. Know what your computer can do before you attempt any changes here. As there is simply too many options here for me to detail, You can follow This link to see what many of these settings do, but note the link is for UT3, not S8:P so things may be slightly different. For most computers the most important killer of FPS is DepthOfField and Shadows. Turn both of them off for the largest increase in performance, short of lowering your games resolution. I'm sorry I can't go into more detail, but it would take forever to detail every single item in there. ====FORCING YOUR FOVSCALE TO STAY==== Customary warning - Back up your entire C:\My Games\Section 8 Prejudice - PC folder before changing anything. Once you backed up the folder, navigate to the following. Note depending on your OS it may be in a different place. C:\Users\username\Documents\My Games\Section 8 Prejudice - PC\S9Game\Config And for this part, open up the S9Game.ini file with a program that does not save formatting changes, such as notepad or Editpad Lite (I use the latter.) Use your programs Search\find Function to look for the words [Engine.PlayerController] and change: PawnFOVScale= (whatever yours is) To: PawnFOVScale=1.142 (or whatever size you want.) you are not done yet. Use your programs Search\find Function to look for the words [S9Game.S9PlayerController] and change: PawnFOVScale=1.000000 To: PawnFOVScale=1.142000 (To match the number you put in the 1st area) Next, Use your programs Search\find Function to look for the words [S9Game.S9PlayerControllerConquest] and change: PawnFOVScale=1.000000 To: PawnFOVScale=1.142000 (To match the number you put in the 1st area) Finally, Use your programs Search\find Function to look for the words [S9Game.S9PlayerControllerAssault] and change: PawnFOVScale=1.000000 To: PawnFOVScale=1.142000 (To match the number you put in the 1st area) Doing this will prevent you from having to open the console every match and manually typing in FOVSCALE 1.142 FOV NUMBERS 90 = 1.285 80 = 1.142 70 = 1 60 = .857 More info on changing the FOV can be found in This thread.

===LOADOUT HELP & ADVICE=== ![]() What has this got to do with giving out advice? Where is the manager?!? Okay... this is going to take some time to get done. So, I open with a simple word... OUCH! ... Good enough. Lets get started: In Prejudice there are two different types of defenses - Shields and Armor. Shields are by far weaker than armor and is harder to stack, but regenerates quickly and in most cases must be depleted before any damage is done to your armor. Armor is your Health - run out of Armor and you die. It does regenerate, but at a very slow rate. you can increase its regeneration rate by using Repair Field passives, and you can actively repair it by using a Repair Tool, Supply Depot or Outpost. In general each object also has a different Armor rating - A weapon which does good damage to infantry may do next to nothing against a vehicle due to different armor types. In general the weapon will follow one of these trends: Slug - Good against armor, weak against shields. Effective vs infantry. EMP - Very Good against shields, horrible against armor. Incendiary - Bad against shields, excellent against armor. Most effective vs infantry. Crash - Average damage to shields and armor. Most effective against vehicles and deployables, but still does considerable damage to infantry. Concussion - Good against shields, bad against armor. Only effective against infantry. While other variations do exist these are the most common. Each weapon mod will usually result in a role switch in what targets its most effective against. Lets use the Machinegun as my model for this. Machinegun has: Slug Rounds - Effective against Armor, not effective against shields. Near useless against deployables and vehicles. Incendiary Rounds - Very effective against armor, not that effective against shields. Not terribly effective against deployables or vehicles but it can destroy them given enough time. EMP rounds - Very effective against shields, but horrid against armor. Drains the lockon, jetpack and overdrive energy of enemy targets it hits, including vehicles. Crash Rounds - Moderate damage to shields and armor - effective against vehicles and deployables but is less so against infantry. So, we can see from that the different uses of each mod. Slug rounds are near useless, Incendiary is used for anti-infantry combat due to its high armor damage and its nasty DoT while still doing some damage to vehicles, EMP is used to knock down shields and prevent the target from jetpacking\locking on, and crash is the all-rounder which can do anything but excels at taking out vehicles\deployables. All weapons and equipment are for the most part like this. They are either good against one type of thing or another, but not against its opposite defense. So to maximize the efficiency of most loadouts, players should take an EMP weapon\equipment and an Incendiary weapon\equipment. One takes out the shields fast, then the other takes out the armor fast. The following loadout picture is an example of this. ![]() The EMP Grenade or EMP MG is used to take out the shields, then the Incendiary Shotgun is used to demolish the armor. The "Secret" to most good loadouts is to find good combinations that suit how you play, while complimenting the weapon mods you have chosen. As such there is no "best" loadout or weapon combo that can do everything in the game. The closest to a true all-rounder combo would be a Crash MG+EMP Pulse cannon. The most important choice apart from your weapons though is by far the passive modules. These determine how specialized or generalized a loadout you have. In general there are 4 sorts of passive modules: DPS modules (Gyro, tungsten, Anvil, Explosive amps) Defensive Modules (Ablative Laying, Shield Generator, Heavy Alloy) Support Modules (Engineering Interface, Repair Field, Polarity Charger) Misc modules (Stealth Shielding, Assassin Module, Lockon booster) These are just examples, but all modules fall into one of these category's. Each module has a different way of boosting your capability in its area, for example Tungsten rounds flat out increase your bullet damage, while Gyro's increase your accuracy, decrease recoil and increase bullet damage done by half of what tungsten does. In general DPS modules > Defense Modules. This is not always the case, but it tends to be true. When creating a loadout you should analyze what you want this loadout to do, and build the passives around it. It would be a very odd sniping build for example if you stack energized weave... But the most important piece of advice I can give you, is to experiment with different combinations. I have 5 loadouts which mostly remain the same, but my 6th slot changes every match to something new I wish to try. Its all fine and dandy to see loadouts posted on the forums which people claim "works", but for you it may be utterly useless. Its all about finding what you are comfortable with. An example of this, is that I know a player which has every loadout capable of base diving. I tried doing this and hated it, but this player does very well with this set up. Not all loadouts can be used by different players, as everyone has different play styles. In short - Find something good against shields. Find something good against armor. ensure your comfortable with it, and know how to use the loadout properly. ===Starting a Server on Demand Server=== SOD or Server On Demand servers are TG\GSP hosted servers which will set themselves up to match your search preferences so you can start a server with exactly the settings and map you want. SOD servers are created not by using the Custom Game area, that is for hosting your own on your own computer which will not be ranked (unless its swarm). So you need to actually set your search filters to the settings you want the SOD server to have. so to start a SOD server for Conquest with ranked stats and with bots: "Search" for 32 player limit, Bots on, Ranked On, Hide Empty NO and start searching. (You must have Hide Empty set to No, otherwise the Server on Demand Available option will never be shown) Once the search is finished at the top double click on Server on Demand Available and you should have a ranked 32 player bot server to play on that's located as close to you as possible. Naturally until 3 human players join you won't get any stats from it regardless of ranked settings, unless its swarm in which case as long as you did not password protect it, it will be ranked. ![]() Set up your search parameters to look similar to this. You can also change things like the difficulty and autobalance options if you want, as well as set a certain map. This will result in something like: ![]() In which case you double click on the SOD server and off you go. Do note that Ranked servers do have limitation on them regarding bot difficulty and so on, an example is that you won't get any EXP from Trivial or Easy bots in swarm, but you will for Medium or higher. ===Closing Comments & Useful Links=== As always if you have questions feel free to post them here, or in the other thread. If you need Technical Support, please visit Technical Support forums and browse though the topics there or make a new one if need be. Do note that it is very rare for Timegate to work on a weekend, so don't expect a rapid reply if its the weekend. If you have suggestions for new features, or have an idea for a balance change feel free to post in the Balance and Suggestions forums. I have also compiled a list of "useful" links here. Section 8: Prejudice FAQ - Updated regularly, the FAQ page contains a list of commonly asked questions and their answers. This is the best place to start if you have an issue. Section 8: Prejudice Support Forums - This forum contains the issues and solutions of other Section 8: Prejudice players. This forum can be browsed or searched, using the Search function located at the top of this page, for additional help. Section 8: Prejudice User Guide - This is a detailed, comprehensive guide concerning how to play Section 8: Prejudice. To download the User Guide right click the link and chose Save. - This is the official TG manual\guide for prejudice, it isn't as detailed as mine. (as far as I am concerned.)Section 8: Prejudice video Collection - a thread which holds most of the videos found\created by the community. Its occasionally updated. A list of when you unlock everything - May not be up to date anymore, not sure. An Updated guide to Prejudice - I think I have talked about this enough by now, yes? Its the more advanced version of this guide aimed at people who have played the game before. Other threads you may be interested in: Section 8: Prejudice Fan Fiction & Artwork Subforum - This is a place for all of the fan fiction the community has created for the Section 8 universe. Contests are occasionally held for the best fan fics which are submitted. Section 8 Prejudice Super Thread - basically an offtopic chat thread, but highly moderated. It is too large to start from the beginning, you should go to the end of the thread and start there. Do be warned that it isn't a true spam thread, actual spamming will be deleted and may result in action taken. If Prejudice was F2P... is a discussion thread about whether or not Prejudice should go Free 2 Play.

That is some good job rossinna,it's nice to have a section 8 wiki around
.Still most gamers dont like reading all that much(it's a long post lol). The game can really use some video tutorials on youtube just to get extra popularity.Dont get me rong having it writen on a page is very good as well but the total newbie can rather use a video tutorial.I ll give an example with sc2.At the beginning of the game most of the players(me included) watched some short video tutorials explaining the basics and stuff.Casters like day9 and husky actually make a living of it really .Those videos really help you see exactly how a good player plays and helps you understand what you are doing rong.Still writen tutorials for sc2 existed(like team liquid site it's full of good stuff). But tutorials are read by the somewhat devoted players to get some deeper understanding of the game.Anyway good job for making it and if you decide to make a video tutorial series let me know if i can help you with something .

Am quite looking forward to the completion of the tweaking section, I wants to break me some settings!
Also, quite a good job you did there on that guide, full of useful information that is a bit hard to convey in the short time before a newbie decides that the game is stupid and runs away to play CoD. Will suggest people come have a look here if they seem to be struggling. |

This is a great thread Rossinna! I found so many helpful things in it even though I read a long time after I got Prejudice. I just have a specific question for the "Tweaking Your Game" section of your thread. It says that you can set your own administator password to change other things in game. When I type "AdminLogin _mypassword", it doesn't seem to work. it always says incorrect password. I even double checked my spelling and made sure there were no spaces or capitals. What's the matter with it? It just isn't working.
