For anyone with the boxed copy of the game,you can download the patch here if GFWL is giving you issues.

Warning D2D users: This will break your game,dont install this.

Steam Users: The patch wont even complete,so its not worth the effort either

Instructions:

Extract and Run the Content/S8-PC-8068-8360.exe

If it gives you a missing INI error,put the 3 files in the Content folder in your Section 8 install and try it again

A much better and less error-prone way to update the game is to follow the instructions provided here.

Well,the reason I uploaded this is because it seems to be more error prone than anticipated. There seems to be a few issues with people not being able to download it. I would rather trust downloading from a browser than GFWL any day.

Not to mention,I find its more convenient if you actually download the patches manually and have them on file for future use.

im not saying do this.... its the right thing to do.... but i try'd everything most of the morning today and nothing worked until i done it like this thread says. that fix on the GFWL support page is only for XP and i run Vista so i guess thats a no go. i have yet to run into any problems by doing it like this. but.... i have yet to play MP.

I'm just manual downloading it because it's what I'm use to doing and I've never had problems manually updating a patch, so I'm sticking to it.

I am eagerly downloading it, but I think Teeth's upload is slow, b/c it's only going at 100 kbps. I normally DL at 1mbps but that isn't the case here D: Once it's done I'll be on for sure.

yeah i dl'd it from his ftp and i got like max 130kbs. but even at that speed it took about 30 mins. its well worth the wait.

So they brought back the tracers did they? I'm so glad. At this point, I'm almost thinking it would have been worth it keeping the final OB build, and then just unlocking the rest of the vehicles and stuff. OB was so great... so great....

Windows live thats in the game, it updatet my game. my game was DOWNLOAD game..

now i get this crap

ohh and on a note, if one say no the the update, live will disconnect = you cant even play the old version online...

It's gonna suck MW2 is going to be the most pirated game of alltime for PC. why because Infinityward shot themselves in the head by taking out dedicated servers and mod WHICH they have supported since COD1. (BTW TGS thank you for putting dedicated servers sure no mods but its better than infinitywards method) (this is not me ranting or protesting i am expressing my opinion)

TG is going to release mod tools i think. they mentioned them in the CB. thats all i can see this game needs is a good SDK. they also added a "Downloadable Content" button on the menu. hmm ideas.......
