Hey there community – having trouble finding a server to play on? Here’re some tips to help you get where you’re going!

FULL SERVERS NOT LISTED?
Games for Windows – LIVE doesn’t return search results for a server that is full. The matchmaking system also does a decent job of trying to keep these full servers full.

So, if you find yourself thinking that you see phantom servers with 31/32 players that suddenly disappear, you’re not crazy.

SERVER SEARCH TIPS:
If you use Multiplayer > Find Servers, then make sure you use the “Search” button in the bottom right to help you find what you’re looking for. The most useful of these options is setting “Min Players” to “Not Empty”.

If you know of a specific server that you want to join, you can also search for it via GamerTag and Clan Tag by selecting the “Specific” tab at the top of the Search screen.

There are a lot of different types of servers out there, so be sure to narrow your choices!

PLAY WITH FRIENDS:
Multiplayer > Find Servers can be used to find out where your Friends are playing online. If you’ve befriended somebody in Games for Windows – LIVE, you can click the “Friends” tab in the top right to find the server that they’re playing on.

SERVERS WITH AUTOBALANCE OFF:
If you’ve got a large group of friends and don’t want to end up evenly split between two teams, we suggest playing on servers with autobalance disabled.

SWARM MODE SERVERS:
These servers are configured for Swarm Mode, where 11 humans face off against 21 bots. Can you hold the swarm back?

SUPER SWARM MODE SERVERS:
Swarm mode too easy? Need the odds kicked up a notch? 7 humans versus 25 bots is not for the faint of heart. Get ready for Super Swarm, and bring along a well-coordinated team.

CO-OP:
Don’t like killing real humans, but really enjoy killing real bots? Co-Op is symmetrically balanced, and puts an equal number of humans against an equal number of bots. So, for every human who jumps into the game, a bot will be added to the opposing team.

How do server admins without the game, server admins interested in hosting multiple games able to without having a user cd-key? Shouldn't there be a way to had out pc admins valid keys? You do for the xbox version.

Any word on dedicated server files, or do we have to rip the dvd for them?

Helpful tip: If you add a server to your favorites, it will show in your favorites list even if it is full.

can you update this thread with some servers hosting the DLC. had to ask that feening to play the new maps in MP.

Question for Timegate :
It appears some people can not see the TAW server. They can't find it through specific search, they can't join on other players in that server nor can they join the server directly when they've added it to their GFWL friends ( we made sure the friend request was accepted in the GFWL server account ). Do you have any suggestions on what else we can try ?

I think this has been happening to me. For example, today I saw that three friends were in a ranked match, joinable, using the Orbital Relay map. I tried clicking "join session in progress," and nothing would happen. I sorted the listed servers, and looked at those running Orbital Relay; ZERO had any players listed. I concluded that I just cannot find the server. This meant I simply could not play any games with more than one person.

Any help out there?

I have the same problem, but if i refresh a half dozen times the TAW server pops up for me.

Not sure the exact name sorry but It says TAW at the begining I think.

If you look for the TAW clan tag, you should be able to find it. The problem with people not being able to join the server still persists. TG, any suggestions ? ( we run our server through a dedicated box which we manage ourselves, no use telling us that we should talk to our GSP )
