The most I'll just have a mortar in my loadout and I mainly use that to take out enemy turrets. For the most part, I stick to weapons fire because I'm primarily a long ranged player. If I'm close enough to throw a grenade or detpack, then I've probably lost my loadout's advantage which is what I try to avoid as much as possible. In the event that I can, though, there's nothing stopping me from blowing someone up with equipment. Sure, it can feel cheap to the dying player but it's just a part of the game and there's no real moral impediment to that.
