abnormal termination program

I have windows Vista home premium, have used wizard program to try and play at windows xp2000 service pack 2 xp, windows 98, dialog box says the game might not installed properly, when I try to play I get abnormal program termination, and I have to restart my pc to get cd out of cd rom drive. Once in a great while the game will play like once every 100 times. anyone have any help?
